If you want to volunteer, please go to the TOOL SHED at 8.30am to meet the Team Leaders.

If you arrive later, please refer to the JOBS BOARD outside the Tool Shed for job information.

If you are working outside in the middle of the day please remember:

• Water
• Sunblock
• A Hat
• Sensible Footwear

We do try to keep the information for volunteers on the website as relevant as possible, so please keep checking back regularly. However, we are all volunteers and we cannot predict which people with specific skills will be here to team lead tasks, nor which jobs will be given the go-ahead by the local community members. Obviously, as we are guests on their island we do not just set up jobs and do them, we do so by listening to what is needed. As a result, fluctations in the workload and necessary support may occur. Also this makes it a bit hard for us to predict what will be the situation later this year or next year. Although we realize that all support offers come from the heart, we hope that you can understand that is impossible for us to tell what will be done in October or later.

At the moment we have jobs setting up the long term memorial garden, finishing the hospital, dive camp and finishing clearing out the school. Next week work starts to pave one of the main roads which is currently just a dirt track. Other people are needed to help Khun Sukdee answer emails regarding her Phi Phi School Education Fund.

As we keep trying to stress, we do need tourists here and if you want to help, that is one of the best ways to do it. It may not feel very self-satisfactory, but you'll be helping to keep open the businesses that everyone has worked so hard to restart. We do still need volunteers, and we do need team leaders, but again - the amount of work that is needed may vary from time to time.

Do I need to contact anyone about volunteering?

No. We are all volunteers so you can just turn up and see if help is needed for specific activities. If you feel you have some specific trade skills that you may be able to use, please contact us at hiphiphi@gmail.com

How do I get to Phi Phi ?

There are two ferries a day from Phuket and two ferries a day from Krabi, each have one in the morning and one in the afternoon. From Bangkok you can fly to Phuket or take a bus down to Krabi. If you're coming from the east side of Thailand, from Koh Phangan for example, get to Surithani on the mainland and then a bus from there. Prices vary and change depending on high or low season.

How much is accomodation on Phi Phi ?

Prices vary depending on what you want and what time of year it is. In low season, prices begin at around 300baht for a fan room up to 2000baht for an air conditioned room. Most rooms come with their own bathrooms. In high season, starting around the beginning of september, prices will start at around 600baht. You can also take a look at the tourism section for information on the island's accomodation.

Am I at risk from malaria?

Although we cannot promise that there is no risk, the high risk from Malaria is up in the north of Thailand towards Chiang Mai and above. It is always advisable to consult a doctor about innoculations at least two months before travelling.

Are the volunteers wanted here by the residents?

The atmosphere on the island is one of unity and friendship. With no big aid agencies involved, islanders and volunteers combined their own effort to help reopen businesses and bring tourism back to Phi Phi.

Do I have to organize my own accomodation and travel ?

Yes, as a volunteer initiative we cannot provide help with visas, accomodation or travel arrangements. We can only give advice from the knowledge we have. If you're British, a lengthy but money-saving method of finding a flight is to go on www.cheapflights.co.uk

All tourist information you can find here. By renting a room, enjoying the food and visiting the shops you help the economy and support the businesses.

We thank all who support this paradise with such warmth :-)
